Hormone Balance
The endocrine system is made up of nine glands in the body. Three of these glands . . . the hypothalamus and pituitary glands in the brain and the ovaries in a woman's reproductive system are responsible for producing the hormones that orchestrate the menstrual cycle . . . FSH, LH, estrogen, and progesterone. Good hormonal balance is necessary for healthy ovulation and healthy ovulation is necessary for a fertile menstrual cycle.
Our menstrual cycle however, is affected by more than just these four key reproductive hormones, Stress hormones, thyroid hormones, and insulin levels can also affect how our menstrual cycle functions. So, when evaluating and improving the health of the cycle, our hormonal balance must be looked at as a whole.
Cherry Blossom Fertility takes a holistic approach to hormone health. Kelly will use your fertility awareness chart to spot hormonal imbalances and recommend nutritional and lifestyle strategies to help you achieve the right balance of estrogen and progesterone in the body. During our sessions, we will also evaluate how cortisol, thyroid hormones, and insulin levels may also be affecting this necessary balance.
Hormonal imbalances are often the result of the nutrition and lifestyle choices that we make, but sometimes they are caused by an underlying reproductive disorder. Kelly is not a health care provider and cannot diagnose or treat health conditions. However, when a medical referral needs to be made, Kelly can connect you with physicians who are trained in Restorative Reproductive Medicine (RRM) and can work alongside your provider to help you accomplish your overall health goals.
